The 2017 Washington County Pit Bulls Roster is starting to take shape.

(Hillsboro, OR) The 2017 Washington County Pit Bulls Roster is starting to take shape. After what seemed ages ago, cancelling two tryouts due to snow, months of OTA's and training camps, the Washington County Pit Bulls have published a roster for the 2017 season. "It has been a whirlwind of activities since taking over in October" rookie Head Coach Mark Ancheta said. "From the re-branding of the team to Washington County, hiring a coaching staff, recruiting, installs, and marketing, it is tough just to catch your breath. Players have been honing in their assignments on offensive and defensive installs. Coaches have been putting in work to prepare for the 2017 season. We spent a day on Valentines Day at the Doernbecher's Children Hospital and brought some cheers to the children's day. Training camp has been very productive. The main focus was to get back to fundamentals and build off of that.  "We wanted to make sure we were sound in our assignments and technique.  We want to be prepared for every situation and play instinctively."  The change in practice has definitely brought some focus to business on the field. Players are vested and bought into learning new systems and protocols.

2017 outlook

Offense: The offense does a slight make over in scheme but holds onto the experience returning 9 of 11 starters from 2016 campaign.

QB: Cody Hunter-Brown, Eric Archuletta, Eddy Simpson, Aundrey Granville- The competition has been pretty fierce. Cody and Eddy have the playing experience at the position and Archuletta has been training since August. Granville is a late addition to the group. "The QB position will come down to who makes the better decisions on the field" said Ancheta.

Offensive Line: Kilsi Naanee, Catarino Rodriguez, Walker Rabon, Jordan Molina, Brian Croxell, Luis Fernandez, Justin Hall- New additions Fernandez and Hall bring some competition for starting positions and help bolster some depth into the core of the offense. Returning personnel continue to gel and build chemistry learning new schemes of the offense.

Running Backs: Rodney Grant, Stevan Izquierdo, Dondre, Stance, Richie Mock, Alex West, Austin DeCarlo, - There are a platoon of backs, each having their niche.  The addition of Grant and Mock coupled with the added scope for Izquierdo will bring a more physical running attack. While the Stance, West, DeCarlo are very good change up backs.

Tight Ends: Jeff Coffey, Michael Jorgensen, Dominic Johnson- All three are very athletic for their size with excellent hands.

Wide Receivers: Andrew Sedacy, James Owens, Riley Rexine, Fin Kerckhoff, Titus Johnson- Sedacy and Owens are the returning personnel for the wide receiver corp.  Rexine, Kerckhoff, Johnson are learning the ropes and are making huge strides each practice to find ways to contribute while on the field.

Defense

Defensive Line: Frankie Gomez, Brandon Benson, Michael Benson, Jaron Jones, Jovenn Pacheco, Randall Ackley, Oscar Rial- The newly additions of Pacheco, Ackley and Rial add some depth to the stout defensive line. Jones look to pick up from his 2016 play off performance and cause some havoc for QB's.

Linebackers:  Stevan Izquierdo, Jason Cephus, Dominic Johnson, Mason Olin- The line backing core is bolstered with the depth of Johnson and Olin.

Secondary: Billy Ellington, Deonte Shelton, Trevor Dye, Mo Naajjar, Chris DeCarlo, Johnovan Lagon, Tyler Dye, Boogie Watkins, Deonta Mcferson- The strength of the defense looks to continue on their success of their 2016 campaign. Safety Trevor Dye looks to master the role and return back to form that brought the team to the 2016 PFL playoff.

The 2017 season opens up with a cross league game with the Cowlitz County Cobras from Washington State. Game is held at Hare Field in Hillsboro on April 22, 2017 at 6pm.  General admission is $10.  Kids 12 and under are free.
